A mini Mojo Beard trade package from Kevin

A week or two ago I sent a nice little Minnesota-centric trade package over to Kevin, the now-lone writer of the Mojo Beard.  I had some nice piles of his favorite teams and also managed to pick up a couple nicer hits, some of which he posted here.

Well, if you've ever traded with Kevin before, you know that it doesn't take long for him to respond in kind.  Besides the card found in this post over on TMV, he threw in a really nice Michigan PC hit for me:
Steve Breaston 2007 SAGE HIT Gold auto (#23/250)
I definitely wasn't expecting one of Breaston's nicer autographs!  This is the upgraded Gold version of a base auto I already owned, and that means it slots in perfectly with my football PC (my 13th Breaston hit, by the way).  I'm happy that Kevin chose this one because it's one of just a small handful of cards that Steve signed with a very nice autograph instead of his current unappealing "SB."  I also value it more, of course, thanks to the shot of him playing for the Maize and Blue.

I'll even go so far as to say this takes a little bit of the sting off of a very disappointing loss to Ohio yesterday, a day that also saw Michigan State and, most disappointingly of all, Notre Dame, win.  Thanks for another great trade as usual, Kevin!  Obviously the few of you that aren't should start following his insightful and hilarious posts over at the Mojo Beard, at least until he wises up and finally gets his own blog like he deserves!

First trade post and Michigan PC card of the new year

As you might have read on my sister blog Too Many Grandersons, I just completed my first trade of the year with Kevin of the Mojo Beard and was excited with a great return in that deal.  Besides the Lions, Tigers and Kaline bat, he included one other card I really wanted:
Straight off my Singles and Player Wantlists, it's a Chris Getz 2008 Bowman Sterling auto/RC.  I've wanted this one for a while because I have the Gold version of the card already, so this one pairs up nicely.  It also happens to be my fifth hit of the erstwhile White Sox 2B, plus my 71st Michigan PC hit so far.  Considering he's an ex-Wolverine and White Sox player, (as is Padres pitcher Clayton Richard) this is probably a card that fellow TMM writer Jeff would enjoy.

Again, thanks to Kevin for a great trade, and may it be the first of many more that effectively add to my burgeoning Michigan PCs!

Co-author announcement

Wow, two posts in one day.  I'm proud to announce that in just its first day of existence I've already recruited a co-author for this blog:  Jeff of My Sports Obsession.
Jeff is a fellow aficionado of Michigan sports, especially football, and proved his loyalty by making several treks out to Ann Arbor from Indiana for Michigan fan day and several games as well.  Such devotion behind enemy lines (so close to South Bend) is admirable, and I can confirm first hand that he's done a great job of passing Notre Dame hate to his family.

So look forward to some great content from Jeff that may or may not provide a nice break from my constant stream of pro-Michigan propaganda.  I hope he provides an entertaining alternative perspective on Michigan collecting--though having read relevant posts on his blog I don't have any concerns--and that this blog becomes another useful way for him to continue building his own Michigan PC.  An important related note:  he only collects cards of Michigan players in Wolverine uniforms, so keep that in mind.

If you're a like-minded fanatic of the Champions of the West and would also like to contribute in a similar fashion, drop me a comment or email and we'll discuss it as I'd be delighted to have multiple contributors to this here blog, something I've seen work effectively elsewhere, especially the outstanding Mojo Beard.  If you think it's great to be a Michigan Wolverine and want to be a part of TMM, don't be shy!
