2013 eBay purchase #53: 100% Miller Gold

I made nine personal eBay purchases in the month of September, and I'll be showing those off eventually, either in a group or separate posts, but today I'm showing off just one card, which was actually my most recent buy, a pickup from Sunday.  What possessed me to do that?  Have a look, and then
allow me to esplain:
Matt Miller 2010 Donruss Elite Extra Edition Signature Status Gold auto (#1/5)
"Wow," you're saying, "that's a very low-numbered autograph of a guy you like to correct, that's pretty cool."  You're right, hypothetical conversation partner, but you're getting warmer.  "It's gold and die-cut and Miller's in his Michigan uni, I know you love that," you say.  Very true, and all that combined really is great, as is the fact that it's serial #1, don't get me wrong, but you're still missing the number one reason I was floored when I found and was able to purchase this exact card.

Ok then, here's your first and only hint:

Notice anything interesting in that spreadsheet, which details my Matt Miller PC?  Maybe that pair of 17s with a "100" beneath it?  Yeah, that's right, I finally own each and every one of Miller's non-1/1 PC issues!  That's 11 from 2010 Donruss EEE plus three each from 2011 Topps Heritage Minors and Topps Pro Debut.  Six are autographs, all but three are numbered, and of course the very last card I needed was the rarest, limited to just five copies.  The Signature Status Gold auto was one I didn't think I was going to see for a long, long time before it suddenly appeared for me on Sunday.  Because September was a much more restrained month for me in terms of spending, I was able to put up a fair offer that was still a fraction of the original BIN price, and the seller quickly accepted before zipping the card my way in just three business days.

And now I get to enjoy the fun of completing my very first player collection.  Granted, it was one of the smaller ones with just 17 cards, but considering how rare a few of them were, I still consider it an accomplishment, and regardless, that's a completed project, something I can satisfyingly cross off my to-do list.  I'd still love to acquire some number of his 10 1/1s, but those would just be gravy at this point.

In celebration of the 100% mark, here's all 17 cards, presented without comment:

It's been a fun trip to be sure, starting off with two cards I actually pulled myself in my 2010 Donruss EEE group break, the Signature Status Emerald auto and the College Ties insert with LaMarre.  I hope I can be celebrating another completed PC before much longer, and the good news is I just happen to have a couple good candidates, so stay tuned!

  1. Dude...NIIIIIICE!

Also I loved the Princess Bride reference. Everyone always goes with the "you killed my father" line but "allow me to esplain" was beautiful.

    1. Thank you, Mr. Z. And I'll let you in on a little secret: Miller's not the only PC I completed this year!
