It's chilly and stormy on this fall Saturday evening in Ann Arbor--perfect weather for a night game, right? I'm just hoping tonight's game doesn't suffer the same three-plus hour lightning delay that PSU's/MSU's did!
Whenever kickoff does take place, it'll be the 6-2 Wolverines, coming off a solid win against Rutgers, hosting 4-4 Minnesota for one of college's most historic trophies, the Little Brown Jug.
NICE JUGS (from MVictors.com)
This is the 103rd meeting between the two teams all-time, and 96th since the trophy's cool origin story. The Wolverines lead the series 74-25-3, and they've mostly owned the jug lately, having lost just three times--2014 (the infamous Shane Morris concussion game), 2005, and 1986--in my lifetime. The last matchup, two seasons ago, was an instant classic after QB Wilton Speight came on for injured starter Jake Rudock and led Michigan to a go-ahead TD, then watched a valiant defense stone the Gophers at the goal line.Fast forward a couple years and Speight is the injured starter, with highly touted RS freshman QB Brandon Peters, coming off an excellent non-garbage-time season debut against Rutgers, coming on to bring a much-needed spark to Michigan's offense. The feel of the game completely changed when Peters came off the bench last Saturday, finally giving the O the look of a functioning unit. How will he respond in his first start, under the lights, in a continued early audition for next year's starting role? I'm dying to find out with the rest of you. For now (and hopefully again after the game), I'll be singing!
Go.
Blue.
