2013 eBay purchases #43 and 44: Freehan isn't free...

... It costs folks like you and me
And if we don't all chip in
We'll never pay for Bill

Yeah, so at the end of my last post I said I'd be showing off more COMC stuff today, but I also had a couple things come in from eBay that I wanted to show off, so please enjoy these instead!

Bill Freehan 2001 Topps American Pie Woodstock Relics bat
Well now that's a psychedelic-looking card if I've ever seen one.  I think I tried a pack or two of American Pie way, way back when they came out, but I can't say they did a whole lot for me.  Still, I love that Freehan was associated enough with the 60s/70s Tigers to be included in this set, both on a base card I've yet to grab, and this bat card, which is my seventh relic of Bill.  Actually, once I nab that base card I'll have everything of his up through 2002!
Bill Freehan 2005 UD Past Time Pennants Signatures Bronze auto
This is a card I've wanted for a good while since I already own the Silver and Gold versions.  I actually grabbed the Gold, then Silver, then this one, so I sort of went about things backwards, but lots of people treated the Bronze cards as if they were as valuable as the others, so I waited it out for a seller that wasn't such an idiot, and fortunately I found one recently.  I considered showing that trio off in the Completed Rainbows section, but there's also a pair of dual autos #d /15 I need to grab, so I might until I get those first.  As is, I now have 12 autographs of my favorite Wolverine/Tiger.

And even better than adding an excellent pair of cards to Bill's PC, I'm now at 20 hits of the legendary Detroit backstop!  That's very worthy of milestone celebration as I near 50% of his non-1/1 PC (58/125 right now) with more on the way.

I like to think that winning these auctions proves that sometimes you just need to jump on auctions for stuff you want, because if you don't throw in your buck 'o five, who will?

    1. I think whoever designed that was into Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, if you catch my meaning!
