2013 trade package #11: I think SCFtDS spent more than a buck on these!

I'm back with the other trade package that arrived to me late last week, this time from America's Hat, Canada.  Specifically, as usual this one was courtesy of Doug of Sports Cards From the Dollar Store.  He had attended a card expo and come away with lots and lots of great stuff for all of my PCs!  Tonight's post on TMV covers a few other pickups, but this one covers the meat of the package, and believe me, it was meatier than Canadian bacon!
We'll start with a pair of shiny football pickups:  a gorgeous 2012 Crown Royale of future-HOFer Tom Brady, followed by this blog's namesake.  That's it for football, but get ready for a bunch of baseball, including lots of new pickups of Jim Abbott and Barry Larkin...
...more Larkin, former Tiger/UM QB Rick Leach, a couple more Reds in Chris Sabo and Hal Morris, and former "I didn't know he was a Wolverine" Steve Ontiveros.  Hooray for lots of baseball base pickups!
And now we come to what was likely Doug's first love, give or take a curling and poutine:  hockey.  We've got UM coach Red Berenson (with hair!), a couple Michigan Mikes, a pair of Coglianos (sorry about your Ducks, buddy!), Canuck by birth and team Andrew Ebbett, a pair of Carl "Bork" Hagelins (I think he's the only Michigan alum left in the playoffs?) and the first of several Jack "MF" Johnsons.
Here's two more Johnson cards from one of his old teams, an older guy in Brad Jones, a Knuble with one of my favorite hockey photos of all time, a spiffy Al "Inigo" Montoya, a trio of blog favorite Brendan Morrison, and a lone David Moss (who's one of many draft picks I got to see play live in Ann Arbor).
Finally, we have a pair of cards of another guy from way back in Jeff Norton, a nice Patch, and a trio of possible newcomers in Summers, Turnbull, and Van Ryn.  That was a really nice pile!

But now on to the REAL highlights of this package, which goes to show that Doug knows how to go above and beyond in identifying your PC players:
Andrew Cogliano 2009-10 SPx Winning Materials dual jersey
Andrew Ebbett 2009-10 Black Diamond Gemography auto
Brendan Morrison 2005-06 SP Game Used Authentic Fabrics jersey
Eric Nystrom 2005-06 Ultra Rookie Uniformity jersey
Kevin Porter 2008-09 Upper Deck Ice Fresh Threads dual jersey
Marty Turco 2006-07 O-Pee-Chee Swatches jersey
Marty Turco 2010-11 Upper Deck Game Jersey jersey

Wow, that's seven excellent hockey hits for that PC!  At a point in my collection where I have relatively few hits in the sport, that makes a huge dent, and I'm excited to say that I'm now at 70.  Turco regains the sole owner of the #1 spot with 13 hits, and Morrison ends up just one card behind him.  Meanwhile, Cogliano hits a five-spot, Ebbett and Nystrom land at three each, and Porter's PC doubles to two.  And while we're at it, the all-sport collection reaches a lofty 996, meaning I'll be celebrating 1K very, VERY soon!

Doug, as I said over on TMV, thanks for another awesome trade, our fifth by my count!  I'll have a nice return package for you very soon and I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with the results.  Readers, get your Canadian buck's worth over at Sports Cards From the Dollar Store tod-EH!

  1. I'm glad everything made it there safely. I'd also picked up a second Cogliano relic, but it was, of course, the only other relic you have of his.
