COMC haul #5: A Happy Hilloween Triple Double

(Note:  all COMC haul posts can be accessed here)

Happy Halloween, all!  For me, the only scary thing about this time of year is that while baseball ins over, basketball is back and I have to hear about it all over the media.  Wake me up when the season's over!

Anyway, today's post is slightly different from the other COMC haul posts in that I'm also throwing in a card I picked up from eBay.  Why am I combining these?  Well, mainly so I don't drag things out, but these happen to go together well and therefore made for a better title.  So here you go:

Rich Hill 2008 Topps Triple Threads 217A Sepia triple jersey auto (#70/75)
Rich Hill 2008 Topps Triple Threads 217B Sapphire triple jersey auto (#01/10)

The Sepia came to me from eBay for something like $6 dlvd while the Sapphire set me back a surprisingly cheap $10 on COMC.  I got the versions ("A" and "B") cleared up on all of my existing cards so now I know what I'm talking about when trying to pick up those I still need--I have 6/18 non-1/1s and 1/9 1/1s, so I'm getting there verrrrry slowly.  That's fine--this isn't exactly a cheap set!

Ok, time for some numbers:
  • Make it 53 Hill hits, and he's still the baseball leader by far, but as of today, trails Jake Long for the all-sport lead
  • How about 99 different Hills right now in his PC?  Pretty sweet!  That's 93 "regulars" and six 1/1s
  • Michigan baseball climbs to 128 while the all-sport total sits at just two away from the 750 mark!
Very exciting indeed.  Well, if any of you read today's post and/or made it this far, here's a reward:  Google Image Search result #2 for "baseball halloween":

    1. Thanks, dude! I like to think it's the best Sapphire since Dusty Rhodes' manager.

  2. I hate the Triple Threads set just because it's so high dollar, but man they put out some great looking cards.

    1. Oh yeah, agreed for sure. It's also stuffed with a ton of low-end stuff that doesn't justify the price, but once you get past the lame single-colored relics of scrubs, sometimes you can do pretty well.
